The time has come! With the latest update we introduce Drupal 10 (version 10.1) for all our Primer customers. Besides many technical changes, this update also includes new features and improvements, which we would like to inform you about in this blog post.
In the coming weeks we will roll out the Primer update to all Primer projects.
Update of the CKEditor
The CKEditor is used for the primer paragraphs Text and Intro. The update to CKEditor 5 represents a significant improvement in usability over CKEditor 4. In addition, the design has been refreshed and thus appears more modern.
Opt-in for third-party embedded content
When visiting the website for the first time, visitors will find a new box about embedded content from third-party providers (e.g. Youtube videos). This box explains that the content comes from a third party provider and asks whether this content should be loaded or not. This opt-in was made due to the new data protection law.
This customization is not automatically enabled, but we can enable it for any project upon request.
Additional design customizations may be required for specific projects.
Hero Focal Point
Hero images now take better account of the focal point and are positioned accordingly. This makes it much easier to ensure that the most important area of a Hero image, e.g. a person's head, is visible.
This improvement is automatically active, and existing Heros should be checked when testing the update, since ev. already in Focal Point is deposited, which is now also taken into account.
New icon browser
With this update we introduce a new icon browser. This includes the update from Fontawesome 4 to Fontawesome 6. The new icons offer a consistent and modern look as well as different style variations.
Since the icons are significantly different from the previous icons, the new Icon Browser is not automatically enabled. If you are interested, we will be happy to discuss how to proceed and update the new Icon Browser in the desired projects. Our goal is to equip all projects with the new Icon Browser over time. Upon activation, all existing icons on the site will automatically be converted to the new ones.
Additionally, with this update we are adding support for the Pro version.
Limitation of the image size of Pexels images
We have now limited the size of Pexels images, mainly for memory optimization reasons. This allows us to be more efficient with storage space without compromising the quality of the images on the site.
New option for 404 error
Newly, we have implemented customizations that allow client administrators to independently ignore 404 paths in the configurations. This helps to get a clear overview of the relevant paths that require redirection.
